B. H. Roberts Introduction – Grandin Press
Matthias F. Cowley (1858–1940) was born in Salt Lake City. He was ordained an Apostle on October 7, 1897. While his widow mother wanted him to pursue a trade, Matthias Cowley was inclined to the service of the Lord. His patriarchal blessing indicated that he would serve many missions throughout the world. His adult life was spent in such service. Cowley’s Talks on Doctrine (1902) and his abridgment of the glorious diaries of Wilford Woodruff in Wilford Woodruff–His Life and Labors (1909) have served generations of Latter-day Saints.
